Formula 272 SR-1

Here's one of our favourite American powerboats and this model is the 272 SR-1.

Powered by twin Mercruiser 7.4Litre 454 V8's - 310hp x 2 and just recently overhauled - please see more details below.

This boat looks great on the water and handles even better. This generation of Formula by Thunderbird were built with nice, heavy hulls with a deep 'V' - a perfect 24 degree deadrise which means they handle fantastically well and you should never get a wet ride! They were designed to be safe and comfortable at speed - safe for children, landlubbers and solid enough for Mother Nature at her worst, though we don't recommend giving that a go!

"The below decks are mammoth - there's an oversized lounge area comfortable for 4 adults, as well as plenty of stowage, a sink, and a toilet. Sumptuous twin sofas either side as well a bow berth with a privacy curtain. Formula's exclusive aircraft refinements - elm burl panelling, sofa designer fabrics, indirect mood lighting, bronze mirrors and flush doors & latches. At the instrumentation panel, the detailing's just as thorough. With throttles in the perfect position, gauges quick and easy to read and trim tabs right at full throttle. The unique, one-piece fibreglass cockpit for simple hose-down spruce ups. No nonsense wiring, thoughtful throttle inspection door as well as plenty of room inside the engine bay"

Work done to the engines and drives during 2022 include:

• Engines removed and checked
• Fuel lines and fuel filler hoses replaced (to run on E10)
• New UJ bellows, manifolds & risers
• 2 x new gimbal bearings
• 2 x new starter motors
• 2 x oil pressure senders
• 2 x new thermostats
• 1 x new thermostat housing
• 1 x new trim pump reservoir
• New oil and anodes on the drives
• Engines repainted
