We are pleased to offer for sale this Ribtec 655 Camel Trophy edition RIB.
This RIBTEC 655 Camel Trophy RIB is powered by a lovely Yamaha F150 4-Stroke engine (2005 model year). The famous strong hull on this craft was constructed to meet the demands of all weather conditions, especially for the ocean race so this RIB offers a reasonable range of cruising in comfort, has excellent handling and is a very capable and reliable RIB.
This RIB seats six people easily – this one has been updated to have two single jockey seats at the console and two, two-person reversible bench seats behind them. This gives a great social space at the rear of the cockpit which incorporates a table with drinks holders. This configuration is believed to be the only one of it’s kind and it was fitted out by the previous owner. There is lots of storage under both bench seats plus the huge bow locker. The current owners bought this RIB in 2018. They are a family of five and they have thoroughly enjoyed their times out on the water, but busy lives have meant that they now struggle to use their boat, so it was rarely used during 2022 and 2023 and it hasn’t been used by them at all during 2024.
A little bit of history about the Camel Trophy race in 2000 (press release):
“The world’s biggest RIB event took place in the South Pacific in July 2000. Sixty-one boats were built by Ribtec for the event which was an extraordinary feat of logistics and endurance. A total of fifty boats set off from Tonga and after more than 1,000 miles of open sea crossing, all fifty craft finally arrived safely in Western Samoa. The Honda-powered Ribtec 655’s carried competitors from thirteen different countries through the most spectacular conditions, putting the boats to the ultimate test.”
